Amanda Derby

Hi my name is Amanda Derby and this is my fifth year teaching at the Round Valley High School. I was born and raised in Covelo and graduated from the Round Valley High School with the class of 1999. After graduating from RVHS I attended two years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo majoring in Agricultural Science and Education before transferring to CSU, Chico. I graduated from CSU, Chico in May of 2005 with a B.S. in Agricultural Science and a minor in History before entering the credential program there.

My teaching experience includes three and half years of science here at RVHS; I have also had the opportunity to teach agriculture, art, photography, mock trial/drama, and geography, as well as Health and Drivers Ed. This year I have returned to teaching Earth Science and Biology, which I am really excited about and I will also be taking on the Yolla Bolly Continuation School. I am excited to have the opportunity of teaching in my home town and to give back to the community where I was born and raised. Go Mustangs!

On a personal note my husband and I have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl this summer. Gemma Lucille Derby was born on July 17, 2011; she weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.
